Corinth, Mississippi –
We took a road trip down to The Pizza Grocery located in downtown Corinth, Mississippi. If you’ve never been to Corinth then you need to make plans to visit. There are several great local restaurants in town that are “must-go” establishments.
We arrived at the restaurant and were promptly seated by the hostess. A waitress brought the menus and took our drink order. Since this was our first visit, she was patient with us as we perused the menu and made our choice.
Debra ordered a 12″ Margherita pizza topped with Roma tomato, mozzarella, fresh basil, olive oil base. It is named after Queen Margherita, wife of Italy’s King Umberto I, this classic has the simple, yet highly flavorful combination of fresh basil and fresh tomatoes.
Addison (our grandson) ordered the Grilled Chicken Alfredo which was grilled chicken smothered in roasted garlic alfredo, and sauteed spinach with Parmesan. I ordered the Lasagna Calzone that was grilled italian sausage, ricotta, mozzarella, fresh basil, tomato sauce.
The Calzone was served with a side of marinara sauce. For any of you that’s not familiar with what Calzone is, Wiki defines it as; “A calzone (Italian “stocking” or “trouser”is a turnover that originates from Italy. It is made of ingredients similar to pizza, folded over and shaped like a crescent before being cooked”.
All the items were very good and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening meal. According to their website “Since 2006, Pizza Grocery has been “the crossroads for great food and friendly service.” Located in historic downtown Corinth, the restaurant has quickly become a local favorite. And now The Pizza Grocery has been added as one of our Corinth “Favorites”.
